About Me
I am from Kerala, the southern state of India popularly known as Gods own country and I can proudly say that my native district Kottayam is second among the districts of Kerala in literacy rate.
It is my pleasure to look back to my pathways of career always till the date therefore let me tell about my studies... after my higher-secondary schooling I joined for Bachelors of Arts at CMS College which is the oldest of the institutions for higher education in South India. While doing the B.A programme I came to visit a Mental health setting nearby my college where I spoke to a Psychiatric Social Worker and he described the roles which he was initiating for the needy population with mental ailments and also I observed the group work which he facilitated and the enthusiasm driven participation of members in it, it was really rejuvenating and refreshing that made me to think and I decided to change my career to Social Work with contemplating for many days about it.
The year 2002 was significant for me in my career because I have joined for Masters in Social Work at Bharathidasan University with a specialization in Medical and Psychiatry in that year. After the successful completion of my course I decided to work for few years, and at that time I realised, fruitful research can really benefit for the family of person(s) with mental illness, and with the inspiration from my mentor Dr. V. K. Radhakrishnan DPM, MD, (Psych), NIMHANS, in the year 2010 I have joined for M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work with Institute fellowship and successfully completed my course in 2012.
During the entire period of my course and supervised clinical work, I had developed special interest towards Schizophrenia and related Psychosocial issues, the then HOD Dr .D. Muralidhar Ph.D also Guided me to a great extent to learn concepts and theories and clinical practice with relevant to research and suggested to do intervention for few cases of person with Schizophrenia which I included in my case records with high interest and for effective psychosocial intervention and decided to do my Dissertation for Families with Schizophrenia the study was “A comparative study on Cohesion and communication among families of persons with Chronic Schizophrenia and Chronic Bipolar affective disorder” later I have joined in Department of Psychiatry, NIMHANS for the DBT funded project “Translational Research on Neuroimmunopathology of Schizophrenia” as Junior Research Fellow and a great opportunity to work under Dr.Venkatsubramanian, MD (Psych) NIMHANS with my ambition to pursue for PhD in NIMHANS the so called “centre of excellence”. My hobbies are creative works, travelling, Pets, Bonsais and Orchids. I am married to Lincy and residing in Bangalore city.
